Once a year, sometime before Easter, Grandma would take Westley downtown to Levy's Department Store on Broughton Street to buy one nice outfit. They use Levy's charge card and then paid a little bit each month.
On the shopping trip, the saleswoman would not serve them until after all the white customers had been helped. Westley had heard the saleswoman politely call the white women customers "Miss and "Mrs." But she treated his grandma as if she were a child, a nobody.
Westley's grandma pretended not to notice. She was polite. But she was also proud. "Come on,"she said, "it's time to go home." They left the store without buying a thing.

I think that Westley's grandma is treated like a child because... She is a black women, and that the shopkeeper is unfair. Westley's grandma was totally right for not buying anything, she was upset. I would have done the same thing as His grandma!

I think Westley's grandmother was treated like a child because of the fact she was black, and the shop keeper is obviously prejudice and white. i would have done what the grandmother did, because it shows she will not give money to a shop that treats her differently, and disrespectfully.

I think Westley's grandma is treated like a child because she is black. I think she was right not to buy anything because the shop keeper was unfair and she was sad.I think I would have done the same thing as his grandma.

I think Westley's Grandmother wasn't treated nicely because maybe the shop keeper was racist. i think she was right not to buy anything. But if i was the Grandmother, i would say, "Just because I'm black, doesn't mean you can serve others before me."

I think that wesleys grandmother was treated like a child because she was black and the shop keeper was racist.
I think that wesleys grandmother was right for not buying anything because she was a strong woman and beleived in herself.
I would have done the same thing but before walking out I would tell her it was wrong to say that.

I think that westleys grandma was treated like a child because the shopkeeper was racist and that she thought white people were more important than black people. Westleys grandma was right because she hadnt bought anything and ignored the shopkeeper. I would have done the same. She had made the best decision!!!

i think that westley's grndma was treated like a child because she is black,I think that being black is just the color of your skin but its not your personality.

I think (even though most of the people wrote the same thing)
that she was treated very rudly.
We all know why.If I was her,
I'd do the same thing.Or I would have made complains about that shop.In conclusion, I think it was right that she did not buy anything. It was a wise choice.
(plz don't tease me, guys. ok?)

ithink that westleys grandmother was because she was a black woman.she was wright not to buy anything because the shop keeper was unfair and discriminated her by color.i would have done the same thing
i think that westleys grandma was treated like a child because the hopkeeper was very racist. westleys grandma had the right not to buy anything due to bad customer service and racial coments. if i was there i would have used my old granny stick to hit the shop keeper for being racist nd then walk out.

Westely's Grandma was treated like a child because the white saleswoman was racist against blacks so she would make her wait until all the white customers were helped. Westley's Grandma was right to leave without buying anything for Easter, if she was going to be treated in such a way, her money should be spent on better things and better people. I think i would have done the same thing.

I think that the shopkeeper let the white woman in front of Westleys gram because she was racist. A lot of people were racist at that time, but that still didnt mean that the white woman was anymore important than Westleys gram. Westleys gram was right by leaving the shop.
